Ethereal-Pastels on Paper

A friend invited me to a gallery showing in Long Island City. I was mesmerized by the work of this artist "Donna Levinstone". At first I thought I was looking at photographs. On looking closer I was amazed to see these were pastel drawings on paper. The artistry is commendable and have to be seen in person, as the photographs don't do it justice.

Ashes and Snow

I was browsing through some images on Pinterest and came across the work of
Ashes and snow by Gregory Colbert. What I love is the great vision of this artist along
with the monochromatic prints. "The images depict a world that is without beginning or end, here or there, past or present".

Mantrapedia

Time for another post : I want to share about something that's been in the works for Spring 2012. It was time for a design change for the Sharon Gill NYC look. We went for happy, happy, joy, joy. Here is an image of the label we are using with a new color: Pink which adds a nice freshness. Whilst in the process we decided to create a hand tag with a Mantra that I have been working with and love! A nice way to empower women I hope!!

That 50's look

I really started to sit back and notice how the 50's seem to be influencing fashion and movies. I went to see 'The Help"  which I highly recommend from fashion to story to absolutely amazing characters. I love, love, love the dresses.
Then this week watched an episode of  'Mad Men' which is more about the early 60's. 'Banana Republic' did a whole collection of dresses titled 'Mad Men' this month.
But what I most wanted to post about is the Amazing collection by Prada for Spring 2012 which is again very 50's inspired. I love how she's used these vintage cars as a graphic print. Truly innovative. The collection has been reviewed as dazzling, refined, intricate and modest.
She's definitely given swimwear a whole new twist. Think: Hollywood icons of the 50's. 'Miuccia Prada' titled her Spring 2012 collection “Women and Car Engines". Image source WWD.

Keira Kingsley for Coco Mademoiselle

Here are some images from the new Coco Mademoiselle ad campaign. Check out the video on their website. The set was inspired by 'Coco Chanel's' lavish Paris Apartment which was modern with rich baroque accents. Images-Chanel

Glam Oragami

I have to do a 2nd post to talk about Origami as mentioned in Domino. Since the images in the article are very refreshing.Image-Domino

Frank Gehry

I was browsing through the Oct'07 issue of Domino, where they talk about Origami
& the term origami-tecture stood out. This building as featured done by Frank Gehry in
Manhattan is home to Barry Diller’s media and Internet business ,a bold departure from Manhattan’s hard-edged corporate towers. The fluidity of form as always a trademark of Frank Gehry.-{image from New York Times }
